The UK topped the list of countries that participated in Bike to Work Day in May, with 37.5% of commuters opting for two wheels over public transport, with many more encouraged to use pedal power to get around yet again during National Bike Week (11th – 19th June). These impressive figures come in the wake of an all-time high in cycling popularity, with over two million people now cycling at least once a week, according to the sport’s UK governing body . Current house hunters looking for a swift commute on the saddle, now have a brilliant option with a new home at Bellway’s Marconi Evolution, in the vibrant city of Chelmsford, Essex.

The development of the former radio factory is now a superb collection of one and two bedroom apartments and three and four bedroom homes, located in the heart of the modern city. The on-site cycleways, and convenient location make these new homes an ideal choice for those working in and around Essex, as well as the capital, looking to take their commute up a gear in pursuit of convenience and healthiness.

Gemma Bannister, Divisional Sales Manager at Bellway Homes Essex, comments: “Cycling is now a very popular way to get to work; it’s cost-effective, eco-friendly and a great way to keep fit. The network of cycle ways at Marconi Evolution offers convenient routes around the area for amenities, travel connections and leisure options, while the stylish homes are ideal for modern living. Each phase of the development has seen high levels of interest and we’d encourage current homebuyers to visit the recently launched Pietro House apartments, and sample the superior quality of the homes as well as their superb location.”

Pietro House comprises one and two bedroom apartments, boasting a high quality specification with stylish open-plan spaces. The modern kitchens boast soft-close units, as well as a selection of integrated appliances, including an electric oven, fridge freezer and washer dryer. The master bedroom benefits from a fitted wardrobe and an en suite with shower enclosure, while bedroom two in the larger apartments is served by the family bathroom. Both bathrooms are presented with stunning white sanitaryware, chrome heated towel rails and ceramic wall tiling.

Chelmsford is an ideal location for shopping, fitness and leisure facilities, with several supermarkets, two shopping centres and bustling high street, all within walking distance from the development. For further fitness activities other than cycling, residents can benefit from the brilliant on-site gym, as well as several leisure centres and private health clubs offering great facilities, all close by. For entertainment, two theatres, a cinema, and a great choice of local restaurants and cafes are also within easy reach.

For other means of transport other than pedal power, Marconi Evolution is a short walk from Chelmsford train station, from here the average journey time into London is 35 minutes, with up to six services an hour. Just one stop on from Chelmsford is Shenfield, which will boast Crossrail connections from 2018. Road connections are also excellent, with the A12 in easy reach offering direct access to London and the M25. Both Southend and Stansted Airports are approximately half an hour away by car.
