Developer Taylor Wimpey has moved a step closer to unveiling a brand new collection of high-quality homes in Stone, Staffordshire, after a planning application was formally approved by the local authority.

The leading housebuilder has confirmed the purchase of land off Eccleshall Road and planning permission has now been granted by Stafford Borough Council for a new residential development at the site, comprising 92 new homes with 40% affordable housing, together with public open space and children’s play facilities.

Taylor Wimpey’s new development will offer a range of stylish three, four and five-bedroom properties in this well-connected community just to the South West of Stone town centre.

The development will provide jobs for subcontractors and support for local companies during the construction period.

What’s more, Taylor Wimpey will be making significant financial contributions towards improving facilities in the local area, including:

£400,000 for local education provision
£275,000 towards local sports facilities
£55,000 for local highways improvements
£130,000 towards off site public open space improvements

Construction on the new homes is expected to start in October, with the first plots due to be released for sale in January.

Anne Wallace, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, says: “We are delighted to have received approval for our plans for this wonderful new development in Stone, which will provide a superb selection of new homes for local people in this popular Staffordshire location.

“As a local housebuilder we are an important contributor to the local communities in which we build our new homes, by bringing investment, new facilities and new employment opportunities to the area and we are looking forward to bringing a wealth of benefits to Stone with the launch of our new homes here.”

Located on the south-western fringes of the quaint market town of Stone, the new homes will form part of an established residential community that’s within walking distance of local facilities, including supermarkets, restaurants and cafés.

A wide range of schools for children of all ages is available in Stone, including Manor Hill First School for primary education and Christ Church Academy for secondary level education, both of which are rated ‘good’ by Ofsted.

This well connected town benefits from excellent transport links with the A34 providing routes to Stafford and Stoke on Trent, while the M6 is within easy reach too, for access to the north and south. Stone railway station also offers regular direct services to London Euston and Crewe.

There’s also plenty of leisure and recreation opportunities, with Stone Golf Club and a fitness centre near the new development, plus a host of amenities such as Stafford Gatehouse Theatre and The Guildhall Shopping Centre approximately seven miles away in Stafford town centre.
