The myriad of attractions of living in Wandsworth are well known. Its community-feel, vibrant high streets, over 200 acres of common land, and its efficient transport links have kept this area of South London soaring in the popularity stakes in recent years and a firm favourite with house hunters. Now, TFL’s newly announced Quiet Way cycle routes, which include a trail from Waterloo to Norbury that runs alongside Tooting Bec Common and out to Streatham, looks set to up the ante for Londoners keen to combine tranquil green living with urban convenience.

Bellway’s exclusive new collection of unique two and four bedroom townhouses at St George’s Gate, in the heart of Tooting, due for launch in October 2016, has been designed for families and professionals seeking to blend gracious country living with urban cool, and make the most of the superb local amenities SW17 has to offer.

Mark Harrop, Head of Sales at Bellway Homes South London, comments: “Families are looking for pockets of London which give them a healthy and balanced lifestyle. TFL’s new cycle routes are the icing on the cake for homeowners who want to maximise their time enjoying the great outdoors. For this development, we’ve geared our interior design to reflect the character and elegance of the area. We’ve already been inundated with enquiries, so we would urge interested buyers to move swiftly.”

The townhouses at St George’s Gate boast spacious open plan living areas, modern bathrooms with Roca sanitary ware, and kitchens featuring fully integrated Zanussi appliances. All homes will benefit from landscaped gardens and off-street parking - an excellent bonus for homeowners living in the capital.

Bellway’s elegant development sits well within Tooting Bec’s existing and much-loved Victorian, Edwardian and Arts and Crafts housing stock, and adds to the neighbourhood’s village feel.

But for many, the key draw to Tooting is its green space; several hundred acres of common land, which spans Tooting, Streatham and Wandsworth – and even includes Tooting Bec Lido (the biggest open air swimming pool in the country) and The Central London Golf Centre. The club boasts a nine-hole golf course and floodlit driving range.

Tooting is also home to an excellent array of restaurants and shops, and is well known for its music and comedy venues such as the Tooting Tram & Social, housed in a converted tram shed, and The Bedford in Balham, home to the long-running Banana Cabaret comedy club.

There are plenty of highly-regarded schools in the area, including Fircroft Primary School, Hillbrook School and Gatton VA Primary. Secondary schools including Ernest Bevin College and Burntwood Schools, and for further education, South Thames College is also close to home.

Tooting Bec underground station offers fast and direct access to Waterloo, Charing Cross, Bank and Old Street. For national rail services, Wandsworth Common and Earlsfield, both around 20 minutes’ walk away, provide fast and frequent services to Waterloo, Clapham Junction and Victoria stations. Major roads are easily accessible from the development, including the A24, A3 and A23.

Prices for the new homes at St George’s Gate will be confirmed at the time of launch. To register your interest, visit bellway.co.uk.
