Garmin have announced fenix 5, 5S and fenix 5X, adding three watches designed with athletes and adventurers of all sizes in mind to its popular line of multisport GPS wearables. The fenix 5S is lighter, sleeker and smaller than previous models – perfect for small wrists without sacrificing multisport functionality. The fenix 5X boasts preloaded wrist-based mapping; and the compact fenix 5, like other fenix watches, is feature-packed for training and many sports, ready to take on any challenge with its new athletic design. All of the fenix 5 models are 24/7 wearable with extended battery life, daily activity tracking1, Garmin Elevate wrist heart rate technology, and a host of smart connected features2. Users can easily switch between stylish leather and metal accessory bands to sporty silicone in seconds and without tools, thanks to the new QuickFit bands. With the new fenix 5 lineup, users now have a watch that compliments their sport and their style.

“After years in the wearables market, Garmin knows that athletes and adventurers come in all sizes, which is why we have designed the new line of fenix 5 watches to fit every wrist and every workout,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “This is the first time Garmin has created a variety of sizes out of one product line so now users don't have to choose between getting the features they want and wearing a watch that fits.”

Female Athletes

The first fenix designed with a focus on female athletes, the fenix 5S is a sleek, smaller-sized watch with a clean, sporty look. At 42mm, fenix 5S is small and comfortable for petite wrists, without compromising on advanced training and multisport features. Both stylish and functional, fenix 5S is available in silver, champagne and black with a variety of choices of QuickFit bands in different styles and materials. There are even more accessory bands available for all kinds of fenix 5 models (sold separately), which makes the new QuickFit bands a great addition. Users can mix and match between their choice of leather, metal or silicone watchbands and switch between them in seconds with no tools needed.

Measuring 47mm, the fenix 5 has a new athletic design and is more compact than previous models of the fenix 3 product line. All fenix 5 models will come with a new set of training features accessible through the new performance widget. fenix 5 models are available in a variety of colours and finishes and for the most ambitious multisport athletes fenix 5 offers Performer Bundles adding a HRM Tri chest strap that allows to capture advanced running dynamics and heartrate while swimming.

Features

Preloaded with routable European Topo mapping the fenix 5X measures at 51mm and comes in an impressive ultra-rugged steel design. Each of the new fenix 5 models is built to withstand the elements with a tough stainless steel EXO bezel and a forged steel rear case and all models are water rated to 100 meters3. The fenix 5X features the full set of training and multisport features and adds new advanced navigation and mapping. To give athletes and adventurers the extra confidence they need when venturing off the grid, fenix 5X provides situational awareness through innovative navigation features that make the most out of topo mapping on the wrist.

All of the new fenix 5 models come preloaded with multisport features for running, cycling, swimming, skiing and more. In addition to the wide variety of sports profiles, all three fenix 5 models have daily activity tracking, so users can wear their fenix as a daily timepiece and a rugged training tool. Built-in navigation features include a barometric altimeter, 3-axis compass and gyroscope.

For the competitive athlete, all fenix 5 models include enhanced metrics for running, cycling and swimming and also support Strava live segments. The new performance widget helps users keep relevant training stats right at their fingertips. New training features include the monitoring of training status, training load and Training Effect 2.0. A new, fully integrated Garmin Elevate wrist heart rate sensor provides improved 24/7 heart rate monitoring without the need of a chest strap.

In addition to the multiport and training features, the fenix 5, 5S and 5X boast a variety of smart connected features. When paired with a compatible smartphone, users can get call, text and email smart notifications right on their wrist. All fenix 5 models are compatible with Connect IQ so users can customise their watch with apps, widgets, data fields and watch faces. To take watch faces one step further, fenix 5 watches are compatible with the Face It app, so users can set their favorite photo as their watch face.
