An extensive £3bn regeneration scheme is transforming Elephant and Castle into one of London’s most sought-after destinations. Properties in this once overlooked neighbourhood are now in high demand, following heavy investment in transport, culture and public spaces. With new Shared Ownership apartments just released by L&Q at their popular Harvard Gardens development in Elephant and Castle, SE17, owning a home in a London property hotspot is now an achievable dream.

Harvard Gardens is the much-anticipated third and final phase of Albany Place, comprising a mix of stylish one and two-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom duplexes. Demand for the first release of Shared Ownership apartments at the development was extremely high, owing to its fantastic location within easy walking distance of Elephant and Castle’s wide variety of amenities and excellent Zone 1 travel links.

The regeneration has brought a vibrant new energy to the area, which is now home to an impressive array of businesses, including independent shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs. The Artworks Elephant is a creative hub, housing over 30 start-ups in repurposed shipping containers, as well as running a diverse programme of events, including art exhibitions and acting workshops. The historic Elephant and Castle pub has been revamped by renowned pub group Antic London, while iconic live music and nightclub venue the Coronet recently announced it has extended its lease until January 2018.

Cathy Lloyd, Sales and Marketing Director at L&Q, comments: “Schemes like Shared Ownership are brilliant as they help buyers to purchase a property with a much more manageable deposit, in locations that might otherwise be out of reach – particularly in London. We’re thrilled that these new Shared Ownership apartments at Harvard Gardens will help more people own a home in such a lively central London location.”

The Shared Ownership apartments at Harvard Gardens truly enjoy a high-quality specification throughout. The spacious, open-plan apartments feature designer kitchens with soft-close units and integrated appliances, generously-sized master bedrooms with fitted wardrobes, and modern fully-tiled bathrooms with white Roca Hall sanitary ware. Each property also boasts a large balcony or terrace, video entry system and access to a communal courtyard and cycle store.

Harvard Gardens is located less than a mile from Elephant and Castle Station, with services including the Northern and Bakerloo underground lines, offering easy journeys to Waterloo (four minutes) and Bank (six minutes), as well as City Thameslink trains to Blackfriars, Farringdon and St Pancras International. With the impending introduction of the night tube service on the Northern line this autumn, Harvard Gardens residents will soon be able to enjoy 24-hour access to all of central London’s hottest spots.

In addition to great transport links, Harvard Gardens benefits from a range of local amenities, including East Street market and Walworth Road’s shops, a Morrison’s superstore and the Castle Centre, which features a fully equipped gym, indoor cycle studio, sports courts, and a six-lane swimming pool where Southwark residents can enjoy free swimming sessions at specified times. For those who prefer the great outdoors, nearby Burgess Park offers beautiful scenery, a park café and an array of activities from fishing to cricket, and tennis to BMX riding.

Prices for one-bedroom apartments start from £103,125 for a 25% share of the full market value of £420,000. Prices for a two-bedroom apartment start from £144,375 for a 25% share of the full market value of £577,500. For more information, visit harvard-gardens.co.uk.
