Garden Village homes coming soon in Tamworth

A leading housebuilder is sowing the seeds for a new ‘garden village’ in Tamworth, designed to meet demand for new housing and establish a new community for generations to come.

Award-winning housebuilder Redrow will build up to 1,100 much-needed new homes at Amington Garden Village, just a few minutes away from the company’s divisional headquarters.

Plans for the flagship development pre-date the Government’s announcement earlier this year of 14 new garden villages across England and will involve much more than delivering new homes.

Redrow has also agreed a package of community investment worth £14 million.

More than 600 people have registered their interest in the properties, the first of which will soon be released for sale.

Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), says: “We’re proud to be creating a modern adaptation of the garden village concept in Tamworth. We know from the success of our Pennine Grange development in the town that there’s a demand for housing in the area and are looking forward to giving buyers increased choice with the forthcoming launch of Amington Fairways and Amington Green within the garden village.

“A project of this scale represents a long term commitment and the phased redevelopment of the 60-hectare former golf course site will not only provide new homes, but will also offer employment opportunities. Plus, we’ll be contributing towards the cost of building a new primary school, creating a new community woodland, extending the Hodge Lane Local Nature Reserve and funding improvements to sports facilities.”

A cycling and pedestrian network will be created through the site, plus there are plans for a bus service between the development and the town centre. Redrow has also committed to invest in secondary and sixth form education and to finance highways improvements.

Initially the homes, which are from Redrow’s Arts & Crafts influenced Heritage Collection, will be sold ‘off plan’.

Prices for the properties will be announced at the launch.
