Iveco cements deal with Wright Minimix

Bristol-based Wright Minimix Ltd has taken delivery of a new Iveco Daily 65C18 mounted with concrete pumping equipment, with a further two identical vehicles on order from local distributor Bristol Street Commercials.

The delivery represents a new concept for the construction industry and was developed by Wright Minimix in conjunction with Iveco and pump manufacturer Mecbo. It enables the company to pump concrete on-site without the need to hire in larger truck-mounted concrete boom pumps or to tow mobile pumping trailers.

“Access is becoming more and more critical in our industry and larger truck-mounted pumps simply cannot access a growing number of domestic residences,” says Len Wright, Managing Director of Wright Minimix.

“The 6.5 tonne Daily chassis cab combines the best of both worlds as it offers the strength and payload potential of a truck, together with the manoeuvrability of a small van,” he adds.

The Daily is manufactured on Iveco’s light commercial vehicle production line in Valladolid, Spain, before being transported directly to Mecbo’s assembly plant in Bologna, Italy. The Mecbo pumping equipment is driven by a PTO from the Daily’s 3.0 litre HPT engine, developing 176 hp, and is geared to operate up to 24 hours a day, pumping 250m linearly or 100m vertically and can supply up to 40m³ per hour.

“It’s a powerful machine and can easily out-perform the speed at which any human can work the other end,” explains Mr Wright.

The vehicle’s body also features a water tank, high pressure water lance, air compressor, pipe rack and pipes. The pump is radio remote controlled for ease of use and incorporates audible warnings for both the operator and mixer driver, to ensure maximum safety. Cleaning issues are also reduced due to the ability to blow the concrete from the line into the required area, whilst the hopper is low enough for any size of mixer to discharge into comfortably.
