Mattucci meets Giugiaro in designer Daily deal Italian designer furniture retailer Mattucci has taken delivery of two Iveco Daily light commercial vehicles, as part of a move to bring its transport operation in-house.

The two Daily 35C12 chassis cabs, styled by Italian design house Giugiaro, have been fitted with Luton bodies and are painted in a striking burgundy livery. Operating from the company’s head office in Northfleet, Kent, they will be used to deliver furniture from Mattucci’s range of 34 suites to stores across the South East, and direct to customers’ homes.

Each vehicle is powered by a 2.3 litre HPI engine, built using Iveco’s expertise as the world’s largest manufacturer of diesel engines over 70 hp. The characteristics of this engine ensures Daily is both flexible in traffic and ideal for longer journeys, with this latest model featuring dash-mounted gearlever and newly profiled more supportive seats to ensure greater comfort and accessibilityfor the two-man crew.

Halil Huseyin, Marketing Director of Mattucci Furniture, says: “We selected the Iveco Daily based on its proven reputation in the industry for durability and reliability. Specifying a 3.5 tonner which could be fitted with a large Luton body was also critical, and the Daily offers us a very competitive payload which enables us to undertake multiple deliveries on each journey.

“Another benefit of the Daily is its tight turning circle and overall manouvreability,” adds Mr Huseyin. “We need to ensure the vehicle can access narrow driveways and congested residential roads when making customer deliveries, as well as being able to easily unload outside our stores – many of which are located on busy urban streets.”

The new Iveco Daily range of vehicles delivered to Mattucci have been extensively redesigned both internally and externally and benefit from an uprated braking system, including larger ventilated brake disks and both ABS and EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) sensors.

They have been supplied by Iveco distributor Stormont Truck & Van on a five year lease purchase agreement from Iveco Finance.

Product demand and the desire to offer customers maximum flexibility when selecting delivery dates means the vehicles will be on the road seven days a week, covering up to 40,000 miles a year. Testament to the company’s commitment to providing a first class delivery service is the livery on each Daily, which reads ‘On Time, Everytime’. The livery was created in-house by Afzal Khan, a Designer at Mattucci.
