First Daily joins Iveco fleet at Salesmark

First Daily joins Iveco fleet at Salesmark Iveco has delivered the first Daily van to Lancing-based carpet fitting supplies specialist Salesmark, which already operates five Eurocargos within its eight-strong commercial vehicle fleet.

Supplied by Iveco distributor Stormont Truck & Van, the Daily 65C18 is the largest panel van on the market and benefits from a 3,950 mm wheelbase, offering a load space area of 17.2m³. This guarantees a generous payload of up to 3,640 kg – with both the wide side-sliding door and 270-degree opening twin rear doors offering sufficient access for the vehicle to be loaded by forklift truck.

The Daily replaces an older Cargo model – the forerunner to the Eurocargo – and has been selected for operation on the company’s intermediate distribution runs, where its predecessor was typically working at 75 per cent capacity.

“One of the major advantages of the Daily is that it is smaller and more agile than a 7.5 tonner, making it easier for our crews to make deliveries in restricted urban environments,” explains Matt Fisher of Salesmark.

“Despite the vehicle’s 6.5 tonne gross vehicle weight, its payload capacity is actually better than the five year old truck it replaces, which gives us the flexibility to increase the Daily’s workload if required,” he adds.

Expected to cover up to 30,000 miles a year, this latest fleet delivery is designed for moving heavy loads at sustained motorway speeds. It is powered by Iveco’s proven 3.0 litre High Performance Turbo (HPT) engine, which is capable of producing up to 176 hp between 3,200 and 3,500 rev/min, and up to 400 Nm of torque between 1,250 and 3,000 rev/min.

Every single component used in this top-of-the-range engine is designed for heavy-duty, prolonged work, with the timing belt, for example, projected to last for the full life of the vehicle and successfully tested to 350,000 km. As with all Iveco Daily engines, this is built using Iveco’s expertise as the world’s largest manufacturer of diesel engines over 70 hp.

Finished in a distinctive red livery, the Daily will be in operation up to six days a week, operating across the South East of England. It will be used to transport Floorwise-branded materials including carpet underlay, adhesives, screed, gripper and a full range of carpet fitting tools.

Goods will be protected on-board thanks to a range of features fitted to the Daily as standard. This includes central locking with remote control and door locking management, steering lock and an engine immobilizer, together with a full bulkhead and rear doors purposely designed without glazing for added load security.
