Iveco Daily wins Best Light Truck award…again! Iveco’s Daily light commercial range has been voted Best Light Truck 2008 in the Van Fleet World Honours, with the Daily scooping the prestigious award for the second year running. It was judged to be most deserving of the title by a panel of industry experts representing the leasing industry, fleet managers and residual value guides.

The trophy was presented at a special awards ceremony held at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, London, on 13 May, with the sheer breadth of the Daily product line-up, combined with its strength in the market and proven reliability winning Iveco considerable praise.

The complete Daily light commercial vehicle range extends to over 2,500 possible configurations with models available between 3.2 and 6.5 tonnes, ensuring there is a suitable vehicle for the needs of every light commercial vehicle operator. It can be specified with a choice of five engines, offering power outputs between 96 and 176 hp, together with a selection of different wheelbases and interior heights, lengths, side and rear door configurations and volume capacities.

Commenting on the award, Andrea Bucci, Marketing Director at Iveco says: “Key to Daily’s success in winning the Best Light Truck title two years in a row is its impressive load carrying capacity, with the range including the largest panel van available on the market, offering a load carrying capacity of 17.2 m³.

“Daily can also be ordered as a chassis cab and is suitable for fitment with a wide variety of different bodywork, including box, curtainside, refrigerated, tipper and Luton options to ensure maximum load carrying capacity in a variety of applications,” he adds.

The Daily is available from Iveco’s nationwide network of dealers, with the latest model building on the company’s significant experience and heritage in the light commercial vehicle industry, which started with the launch of Daily in 1978 and has since seen approximately two million vehicles delivered to customers around the world.

In winning the award at the Van Fleet World Honours, Iveco won much acclaim for the availability of an automated transmission across the complete Daily product line-up. Launched in October 2006, the AGile gearbox is proving an increasingly popular choice for vehicles operating in congested urban environments where stop/start traffic flow is commonplace. It allows the driver to choose between fully automatic or manual sequential gear selection using a lever on the dashboard and uses an intelligent system that adapts automatically to each drivers’ individual style whilst maximising fuel economy and offering levels of driving comfort normally only associated with a car.

The Van Fleet World Honours are presented annually to those van manufacturers and service companies who have, in the opinion of the judges, achieved the highest possible level of excellence in their sector.
