Peugeot’s new Boxer van now punches harder

22nd May 2006 Print
Peugeot Boxer Peugeot announces the New Peugeot Boxer, the newest member of the Peugeot light commercial vehicle range.

Built in partnership with Fiat, the New Peugeot Boxer will replace the current version which, together with its sister vehicles from Fiat and Citroën, is the No1 selling large van in Europe with over 25% market share.

The New Boxer introduces a broader and more varied range than before, combined with an increase in load capacity, both in terms of total weight and volume.

With its stylish good looks, portraying a powerful and robust exterior, the design also ensures the vehicle is easy to use and it provides the flexibility needed by users of this type of vehicle.

Road holding, safety, comfort and interior design have all been improved over the current Boxer, as has standard equipment levels which now include: driver’s airbag, four wheel disc brakes, ABS, EBFD, EBA and ESP depending on model. New technology will also appear on the New Boxer, such as pneumatic rear suspension which can be lowered to facilitate loading large and heavy items.

The New Boxer range will be powered by common rail, direct injection HDi diesel engines with a capacity of either 2.2 litres or 3.0 litres. These engines provide torque figures of between 250 Nm and 400 Nm and are combined with either a 5 or 6 speed gearbox.

Compared to the previous generation HDi diesel engines, fuel consumption has been reduced by nearly 10% and the time between maintenance checks has been increased by 30%. This will, therefore, reduce running costs, an important consideration for both small business users and major fleets.

The payload has been increased compared to the previous Boxer range, with the introduction of a new range of vehicles with a GVW from 3.5 to 4 tonnes, allowing a payload of up to 2.0 tonnes.

With over 530,000 Peugeot Boxer vans produced since its launch in 1994, the revised Boxer with its increased load capacity, payload, state of the art diesel engines, low running costs and comprehensive standard specification, will provide stiff competition and ensure it retains its No1 status in Europe.

The New Peugeot Boxer will go on sale in the UK in November 2006.
