JB Kind uses new Renault fleet to promote rainforest cause

1st July 2009 Print
JB Kind Renualt Fleet Independent high quality door distributor, JB Kind, has taken delivery of three new Renault Midlum 220.14 trucks with Hatcher semi sky cabs; one Renault Midlum 7.5 tonne truck and a Renault Premium 280.18. The vehicles were supplied through Renault Trucks distributor, Allports Trucks. The trucks are replacement vehicles on a 13-strong mixed fleet, nine of which are now Renaults less than 18 months old.

The vehicles will be used for multi-drop deliveries from the company’s three depots in Swadlincote, Leeds and Bristol, to a mixture of merchant, retail and on-site locations nationwide.

All of the recently acquired Renault trucks have been given an unusual and striking livery to promote JB Kind’s link with the RSPB on a project to save hundreds of endangered species in Indonesia’s South Sumatran ‘Harapan’ Rainforest. The trucks feature colourful pictures of the rainforest’s most endangered species in a bid to promote awareness.

Ryan Farmer, Transport Co-ordinator, JB Kind Doors, comments on the company’s decision to move towards a predominantly Renault fleet: “We did look at every other major manufacturer available in the UK market. However, we chose Renault trucks as they offered greater value for money. The initial purchase price, linked with the cost of ownership and class leading fuel efficiency, clinched the deal.”

Based in Derbyshire, JB Kind (JBK) has been trading for nearly 140 years within the timber trade and as a specialist door distributor for over 25 years. In 2008 JBK acquired door manufacturer and distributor STP, including its stock and warehouse facilities at Leeds and Bristol and door manufacturing site near Wakefield. The acquisition increased the product offering across mainstream as well as premium doors, doubled the number of employees and improved the distribution network.

JB Kind’s link with the RSPB involves significant monetary donations, as well as raising awareness of the plight of the wildlife and indigenous people of Indonesia.
