Renault Premium brings fuel consumption down for Switch

11th August 2009 Print
Renault Premium Hampshire based freight management company, Switch International, part of the TWT Logistics Group, has taken delivery of two new Renault Premium 450 tractor units. The 6x2 trucks with Optidriver+ gearboxes join a group fleet of 70 vehicles and were acquired through Renault Trucks South West.

The two new Renault Premiums have joined the company’s UK groupage and haulage operation, which operates a fleet of 28 vehicles out of its Andover site. The new trucks will be carrying out deliveries for customers such as the Hoover Candy Group, De Dietrich Fagor Brandt and Polystar Plastics.

Aled Thomas, Group Pallet Network Manager, Switch International, says: “We chose the Renault Premium for its excellent fuel consumption figures as the two new vehicles are now doing in excess of 9.6 miles per gallon. The other big advantage of the Renault Premium is its lightweight design, which allows us to comfortably carry 28 tonnes and, in today’s economic climate, payload is more important than anything else.”

Switch International was established in 1970. In 2006, the company became part of the privately owned TWT Logistics Group, enabling coverage of a larger geographical area by utilising TWT’s network of operations. Its five acre site in Andover is a critical hub of the TWT network. The company operates a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment and has been a member of the Pall-Ex network since March 2006.

The TWT Logistics Group is the largest member of Pall-Ex and has its headquarters in South Wales, operating from a 15 acre site, with over 100,000ft² of warehousing, offices and workshop facilities.
