More apartments available at Canadian resort

3rd April 2007 Print
Looking down from the 10th tee at The River Course After the successful first phase, Humber Valley Resort in Newfoundland has released a further 28 apartments and townhouses allowing more UK buyers to own property at this award-winning Canadian resort.

Located at the heart of the resort near the Eagle’s Perch clubhouse, the new apartments and townhouses have been designed to fit with the natural surroundings and overlook the 9th fairway of the 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course.

William Thompson, VP sales at Newfound Property International, said, “After the high level of interest in the first phase of apartments at Humber Valley Resort we have released a second phase. While the resort consists of mainly stand-alone chalets, these apartments and townhouses provide a good alternative for people who want to buy property at a first-class resort with a lower level of maintenance and outlay. Being part of a fully-functional resort is also a huge plus for buyers as they can obtain rental income from holiday-makers.”

The apartment complex will contain 18 units spread over three blocks. Each fully-furnished apartment will measure approximately 1,291 sq ft and feature two en-suite double bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen and dining area opening out onto a decking terrace.

The 10 townhouses will be split over three levels with bespoke finishing touches. Featuring two bedrooms on the ground floor, the first floor includes flexible space that could be used as a third bedroom or study. From the upper floor, the units will offer uninterrupted views of Deer Lake and the Humber Valley.

Humber Valley Resort is a perfect base for year-round activities. Along with golf on the Doug Carrick-designed River Course, in the summer months there is some of the best Atlantic salmon fishing in the world on the Humber River as well as canoeing, hiking, swimming, sailing and guests can also go whale watching and sea kayaking nearby.

In the winter, downhill skiing and snowboarding are only a 10-minute drive away at Marble Mountain and extensive snowmobiling trails are available.

The newly-opened Found Spa provides a range of treatments and the on-site Sully’s Pub serves Canadian-style dishes with a gourmet twist. A number of other facilities are in the pipeline including a swimming pool and fitness centre.

The nearest airport, Deer Lake, is just over five hours flying time from Gatwick. Then it’s an easy 20-minute drive to Humber Valley Resort, making ski weekends just as accessible as many European resorts. With two flights a week (Fridays and Tuesdays), Newfoundland can now be firmly considered a long-weekend destination.

A two-bedroom apartment can be purchased from CDN$475,000 (approx. UK£208,397) and townhouses start at CDN$575,000 (approx. UK£252,271).
