Site manager makes it a hat-trick

Site manager makes it a hat-trick It’s third time lucky for one Abergavenny based housing site manager who has repeated his success in an industry-wide competition.

Mark Symonds (pictured) has celebrated nine years in charge of building work at Redrow developments across South Wales by winning a coveted ‘Quality’ award in the National House-Building Council’s (NHBC) annual Pride in the Job initiative for the third year running.

He must now wait until October to find out if he has earned the even more sought-after ‘Seal of Excellence’, which would put him in the top 100 site managers UK wide.

The 38-year-old site manager has been recognised for his work at Croesonnen Court in Abergavenny, which will feature executive three, four and five-bedroom detached homes set on the edge of the world-famous Brecon Beacons National Park.

One of only 400 site managers from 18,000 across the UK to win an NHBC ‘Quality’ award in 2009, his achievement reflects the calibre of his site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.

Mark who lives in a Redrow home at Parc Pen-y-fal, in Abergavenny with his wife Rhiannon and baby Ella, and has two sons Joe and Dan, said: “I was delighted to win ‘Quality’ awards for the last two years but to win a third is unbelievable. Now I just hope I can take it to the next level and collect a ‘Seal of Excellence’, which would place me in the top 100 site managers around the UK.

“For me it’s about accepting nothing other than a top quality product. You can’t beat driving through a development after it’s finished knowing you have given your best and that it has been authenticated by a national body.

“Croesonnen Court is a fantastic development built to the highest specification. The show home in particular is breathtaking and possibly the best thing I have ever worked on. The show home undoubtedly played a part in impressing the NHBC inspector, but it’s also got a lot to do with the hard work and commitment of the whole construction team on site.”

Mark will attend a special presentation ceremony at Holland House, in Cardiff on October 9th when he’ll also find out if he’s been successful in securing a Seal of Excellence.

Croesonnen Court is open Thursday to Monday inclusive from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information log on to redrow.co.uk.
