Capital magazine votes Austrian Best Airline in Europa

9th May 2008 Print
Austrian, together with Lufthansa and Swiss, has been voted into first place in its traditional European scheduled segment in the readers’ survey of specialist business magazine Capital.

Austrian earned first place in the rankings with an overall mark of 2.3. The company achieved its top figures in the Service and Catering categories. Austrian has implemented a wide range of innovative products and services in recent years as part of its highly successful and distinctive quality and service offensive. By focussing on individual and personal service in particular, the “we care” project has provided an essential foundation to Austrian’s successful differentiation from the competition.

Chief Commercial Officer Dr. Andreas Bierwirth made the following statement regarding the company’s success in winning another key passenger survey:

“Austrian makes it possible for our passengers to experience both Austria and Austrian hospitality above the clouds: we win points for our first-class DO&CO catering, in both Economy and Business Class. Having won a series of high-value industry awards over the past year, including the Business Traveller Award and Airlinetest, this new top placing is clear evidence that the consistent Austrian quality and service offensive is having an impact and being acknowledged by customers. We shall also be continuing to invest in innovative products and services, both on the ground and in the air, in an effort to make travelling a more pleasant experience for our passengers.”

This year was the 22nd time that Capital had asked its readers and online users to assess their experiences with airlines. The survey was based on evaluations of some 17,000 flights by more than 1,000 frequent flyers, in six categories including Price/Performance Ratio, Feeling of Safety, Service, Seat Comfort, Catering and Punctuality. Precise test results have been published in the latest print issue of the magazine, and can also be viewed online at Capital.de.
