Austrian Premium Services addresses every one of the senses

27th May 2008 Print
Austrian is expanding its presence in the high-growth regions of the Levant and Middle East. The uniquely strong geographical position of Vienna at the heart of Europe means Austrian can serve even distant destinations up to six hours’ flight away with medium-haul aircraft. The new Premium Service will significantly improve the competitiveness of the company in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

From 15 July onwards, Business Class passengers can expect to encounter an exclusive travel experience designed to address every one of the senses on flights into the Middle East and Central Asia. Austrian hospitality and Oriental flair, new seats with improved standards of comfort, a wide-ranging entertainment programme, and culinary delicacies and impressions typical of individual nations will enable users of the new Premium Service to shut out the strains of everyday business routine.

Business Class passengers will have the chance to enjoy this new exclusivity on flights between Vienna and Astana, Damascus, Dubai, Erbil, Jeddah, Cairo, Riyadh and Teheran from 15 July.

Austrian Chief Commercial Officer Dr. Andreas Bierwirth issued the following statement about the new Premium Service: “Austrian Airlines already benefits from a quite outstanding reputation throughout the Levant and Middle East. The strong Austrian brand and new product, combined with the top service that we offer both on the ground and on board, will enable us to position ourselves even more strongly in this region. Premium Service will allow us to exploit to the full the natural competitive advantages of our Vienna hub, and to differentiate Austrian from its competitors for high-yield Business Class traffic with its exclusive service concept.”

Appetizers and apricot dumplings

After an aperitif service of refreshing fruit juices, drinks and warm nuts, DO&CO will prepare individualised gourmet menus consisting of several different courses. Passengers will be able to choose from Oriental and Austrian culinary specialities – all served on the finest porcelain, freshly prepared and featuring special tones to harmonise choice with the destination in question. The culinary range is rounded off by exquisite speciality coffees and teas.

Extra relaxation

The Business Class sections of Austrian A320 aircraft are being fitted with the generously-proportioned new comfort seats from RECARO. With 116 cm of legroom, the seats offer ample space to relax and enjoy the Premium Service experience, their back- and footrests can be electronically adjusted to suit passengers’ needs at any time, and an integrated massage function offers extra relaxation.

1,001 entertainment options on demand

With a selection of programmes in 4 different languages, the Personal Video Player offers the very latest feature films (two with Arabic subtitles), together with documentaries, lifestyle programmes, sports shows, children’s programming, games and a wide range of international and Arabic music.
