Spanair to offer over 3,500 flights from and to Ibiza in 2009

Spanair will offer more than 3.500 scheduled flights from and to Ibiza during 2009 confirming the company’s bet to provide an adequate supply for both the island’s residents and business and leisure travellers.

The Spanair 2008-09 Winter Schedule, which started last 26th of October and will finish the 28th of March 2009, maintains two daily flights to Madrid and Barcelona from and to Ibiza. A total of 52 weekly flights have been adapted in order to offer multi domestic and international connections through Spanair and the Star Alliance members flights.

Enhanced schedules in the routes from Madrid and Barcelona to Ibiza

Spanair has improved its schedules by offering the first flight from Madrid to Ibiza at 07.20 a.m. and the latest one from Ibiza to Madrid at 21.05 p.m. This way, passengers can make the best of their day in the island and count on a larger number of connections.

Furthermore, the company has doubled its daily frequency on the route Barcelona-Ibiza with two daily flights compared to the unique flight offered during the last winter season. The schedules have also been improved with the first morning flight to Barcelona at 10.55 a.m. and a second flight at 16.45 p.m., as well as two departures from Barcelona at 09.30 a.m. and 15.10 p.m.

For the summer season 2009, starting next 29th of March, Spanair expects to operate 3 daily frequencies to Madrid and Barcelona. The company will add an additional flight at 20.20 p.m. to Barcelona from April and another one at 13.10 to Madrid from May.

Moreover, the company will operate up to 5 daily flights during July and August to adapt its offer to the intense summer period. The company will also increase the number of tourists arriving to the island from other countries thanks to its charters.

Spanair expects to end 2008 with almost half a million passengers on its scheduled routes and its more than 20 international destinations of charter flights to and from Ibiza. During January and September, Spanair has transported more than 400.000 passengers to and from the island.
