bmibaby raise over £30,000 for BBC Children in Need

5th December 2008 Print
bmibaby is celebrating after raising over £30,000 for BBC Children in Need and the low cost airline is hoping that figure will sky rocket even more! Fundraising will continue until the end of the month and bmibaby is hoping that passengers flying from Birmingham International, Cardiff International, East Midlands and Manchester Airport, will keep up their efforts to raise even more money for the charity.

bmibaby has been collecting on board every flight, asking passengers to donate any loose change and foreign currency to help the BBC Children in Need Appeal, as well as holding fundraising events at bmibaby Elite League Ice Hockey matches and at bmibaby headquarters and ground services.

Crawford Rix, managing director, bmibaby, said:

“This is a fantastic achievement and I would like to thank all our passengers for the generosity they have shown throughout the appeal.

“The bmibaby cabin crew and ground services team have worked really hard collecting at airports and onboard all our flights. Raising such a huge amount of money is a fantastic achievement.

“bmibaby has worked with BBC Children in Need for five years, and we feel it is such a amazing charity as every single penny goes towards projects helping disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.”

bmibaby launched the start of its appeal for the charity by naming one of its aircraft Pudsey Baby, and 300 cabin crew have been collecting onboard flights and selling Pudsey Bear key rings. Staff also collected at bmibaby Elite League Ice Hockey games and held a fundraising day at bmibaby head office, which raised almost £700.
