bmibaby announce new service from Cardiff International Airport
bmibaby is the only low cost airline to fly this route from Cardiff International Airport and expects to carry over 13,500 passengers on the new service over the summer months. Prices start from just £41.99 one way including taxes and charges.
Crawford Rix, managing director, bmibaby, said:
“We believe that Menorca is a destination that will appeal to a wide range of travellers looking for a summer escape.
“Menorca is currently not served by any other low cost airline from Cardiff International Airport, so by launching this new service we are offering customers a unique summer destination at fantastically low fares.
“The island of Menorca is a beautiful destination with lots to do and with its typically sunny Mediterranean climate it is the perfect getaway for a weekend break or a family holiday.
“In the current economic climate the airline industry is seeing a weakening in demand from consumers for impulsive city breaks and an increase for typical sun destinations. In order to meet the demand for more Mediterranean routes from Cardiff, we are suspending our city route to Lisbon for summer 2009. This will enable us to meet the high consumer demand for services to sunny, beach destinations. Over the summer period bmibaby will be operating 68 flights a week between Cardiff and our top Mediterranean destinations.”
Customers holding bookings to Lisbon will be contacted by bmibaby as soon as possible. They will be offered a full refund or alternatively they can transfer free of charge to another bmibaby destination of their choice.
bmibaby is on sale with flights for summer 2009 from Cardiff International Airport to 12 other destinations: Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast International, Edinburgh, Faro, Glasgow International, Jersey, Malaga, Murcia, Palma.
