8th May 2009 Print
bmibaby is currently seeing a surge in bookings from Formula One fans keen to get a slice of the action at the Monaco Grand Prix between the 21 – 24 May 2009.

Flights with bmibaby to Nice from East Midlands Airport and Birmingham International Airport are already at an average 89 per cent capacity for the period 19 to 24 May 2009, with the remaining seats selling fast. In the week leading up to the race bmibaby has four flights departing from Birmingham to Nice, and three flights departing from East Midlands Airport to the chic French hotspot.

The first two practice laps for the Formula One race start on Thursday 21 May, with the final practice taking place on Saturday 23 May. The actual race, which takes in 78 laps around the city of Monte Carlo, takes place on Sunday 24 May and is deemed to be one of the most challenging courses on the Formula One circuit.

Crawford Rix, managing director, bmibaby, said:

“For Formula One fans, there is no place in the world to watch the Grand Prix like Monte Carlo. The city epitomises all that is great about F1 racing – the speed, the glamour, and the noise, not to mention Monte Carlo being steeped in Formula One history.

“We have frequent flights departing from Birmingham International and East Midlands Airport to Nice so there is no excuse for fans to miss out on the action at the Monaco Grand Prix.”

In addition to the Grand Prix event, travellers flying into Nice can also visit the Cannes Film Festival which takes place from the 19 – 23 May 2009.
