Virgin Atlantic lowers fuel surcharges

Virgin Atlantic has announced that following the recent, sustained decrease in the price of crude oil, it will be reducing its passenger fuel charges with effect from Thursday 18 December.

The charges will be cut by up to £35 per sector (one-way flight) depending on the destination and class of cabin. Economy passengers will pay £15 less on shorter sectors and £30 less on longer sectors; Premium Economy passengers will pay £20 less on shorter sectors and £29.50 less on longer sectors; Upper Class passengers will pay £20 less on shorter sectors and £35 less on longer sectors.

The new fuel charges will be:

Shorter Sectors:
Economy £53
Premium Economy £63
Upper Class £78

Longer Sectors:
Economy £66
Premium Economy £85
Upper Class £98

Longer sectors are London to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Beijing Tokyo, Shanghai, Sydney, Mauritius, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Hong Kong.
