Flybe updates hand baggage policy

16th January 2008 Print
Following the Government’s decision to relax hand baggage restrictions on an airport by airport basis, Flybe has confirmed that it will, wherever possible and effective January 7, 2008, revert to their previous policy in place before the imposed restrictions were applied.

Flybe’s policy in practice means that Economy passengers will be allowed to carry on one piece of hand baggage weighing a maximum of 10kgs free of charge. Economy Plus passengers will be allowed to carry one piece of hand baggage weighing a maximum of 10kgs plus a laptop at approved airports only*. All hand baggage must comply with Flybe's dimension restrictions available on Flybe.com

Restrictions on liquids still apply with only small quantities - not exceeding 100mls per container carried in a clear re-sealable plastic bag 20cm X 20cm – allowed to be carried.

Passengers should be aware that the departure airport on their outward journey may have different restrictions to the departure airport on their return, and should consider this when packing for the journey. Each airport is being individually approved by the Government, and the list of approved airports will be detailed on DfT.gov.uk.

*The current list of the Government’s ‘approved airports’ (as at Jan 3) is as follows:

Aberdeen
Benbecula
Birmingham
Cambridge
Cardiff
Edinburgh
Glasgow
Heathrow
Inverness
Islay
Kirkwall
London City
Manchester
Plymouth
Prestwick
Southampton
Southend
Stansted
Stornaway
Sumburgh
Wick

Flybe will update this list as and when we are informed by the Government of any changes.
