KLM brings Schiphol closer with BluelinQ

10th April 2008 Print
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines this week launched BluelinQ via its website klm.nl. The new service will enable passengers to travel quickly, simply and economically to and from Schiphol. BluelinQ is primarily aimed at passengers traveling from outside the Randstad area.

At first, three services will be offered including car rental, transfer and hotel. BluelinQ will enable KLM to contribute towards increasing Schiphol’s accessibility.

“Airports competing in border regions are vying for business. It is strategically important to establish a balance in this respect,” says Welmer Blom, sales director KLM The Netherlands. “We also like to respond to customer requirements, especially if passengers traveling from outside the Randstad area feel the journey to Schiphol takes too much time and money.”

The BluelinQ car service provides passengers with an AVIS rental car at a starting price of €99 for a roundtrip, regardless of where they live. The car is delivered to the passenger’s home or office well before departure. The passenger then drops the car off near the departures hall at Schiphol. On the return journey, the passenger simply collects a car from Schiphol and drives home from where AVIS collects it. With this new KLM service, passengers can enjoy the comfort and flexibility of private transportation without the expense or worry of having to park at Schiphol.

The BluelinQ transfer service offers passengers who do no want to drive themselves the option of reserving luxury car travel (Mercedes E class or comparable), complete with driver, at special KLM rates through Verstraaten Business Travel. The BluelinQ hotel service offers passengers the opportunity to book a hotel near Schiphol at a starting price of €99, for example, for the night before departure. The traveler can choose between the Sheraton Hotel at the airport or the Van der Valk Hotel beside the A4 highway. Parking at the hotels is free or vastly reduced.

The BluelinQ services are exclusively available via the klm.nl website. All passengers flying with KLM or one of KLM’s partner airlines, and who land or takeoff from Schiphol, are entitled to use the BluelinQ services. Customers may request an advance estimate of the costs of all the services. This is supplied instantly online. Payment is only required once the booking has been made. Payment can be made by credit card or iDeal and is paid directly to the service provider.
