27th May 2008 Print
On Friday 23rd May, VLM Airlines carried 1250 passengers on the Amsterdam – London City route. The reason for this record number is the large-scale maintenance works to the runway at Rotterdam Airport. These works finished on Monday morning, 26th May.

As a result, VLM Airlines will temporarily operate its flights, which normally are being carried out from Rotterdam, from Amsterdam.

VLM Airlines offers daily scheduled services from Amsterdam-Schiphol to London-City and to Groningen. On Friday 23rd May 2008, an absolute peak will be noted with 38 flights operated by no less than six aircraft of VLM Airlines.

Last month, the VLM Airlines noted a record number of passengers on the route Amsterdam – London City, with over 4.000 passengers in one week. This week (week of 19th May 2008), this figure will be exceeded by far, with 4.700 expected passengers on this route.

In 2007, the London City - Amsterdam route accounted for 22% of the total number of passengers of the VLM network and the regional business airline was named the most punctual airline on the London-Amsterdam route. In March of this year, the airline was awarded the prestigious Passenger Airline Award of Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
