Aktau Airport closes for maintenance

From 10 October 2008 at 17:16, Air Astana received the information from Aktau Airport that the runway will be closed during daytime starting from 15 October until 30 November 2008. The airport explains that the airport will be closed for maintenance because of “critical current condition of the runway”.

Due to the very short notice that came from Aktau Airport only 2 working days before the closure, Air Astana has been forced to reschedule its Almaty-Aktau flight departure from 07:00 to 04:05 and Aktau-Almaty departure from 10:45 to 07:45. In addition the flights between Atyrau and Aktau had to be canceled during the entire period of runway pavement upgrade due to non-availability of the airport at the time the airline had scheduled its flights.

Air Astana deeply regrets and offers apologies to the 46 Business Class and 609 Economy class total 656 passengers who had tickets for convenient morning times and were forced in the last minute to come 3 hours earlier.

In addition Air Astana regretfully has informed 37 Business Class and 849 Economy Class passengers that it will not be able to offer services between Aktau and Atyrau during the renovation period.

All passengers with contact information available in their reservation have been informed and rebooked by Air Astana.
