Strike action proposed at Gatwick and London

20th August 2008 Print
Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways have confirmed that they have been alerted to proposed strike action by Swissport planned to take place at London Gatwick and London Stansted airports on Monday 25th August and Friday 29th August 2008.

Swissport are the handling company contracted by Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways for check-in and baggage handling at London Gatwick and Stansted airports.

The companies hope that the situation can be resolved before the bank holiday weekend. At this time, Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways plan to operate all flights through London Gatwick and London Stansted as planned and therefore normal booking conditions apply.

Both airlines are currently working in close collaboration with the airport authorities and are planning for every eventuality in order to minimise potential disruption.

Proposed strike action by Swissport at Manchester Airport on 27th August and 1st September will not affect Thomsonfly or First Choice Airways, as their baggage handling at Manchester Airport is managed by Servisair.
