Thomson Airways raises £200k in onboard donations

9th September 2009 Print
Thomson Airways has raised a whopping £200,000 for charity in the last six months! This money, which has been generously donated by customers on Thomson and First Choice holidays, has been shared between the Family Holiday Association, the Born Free Foundation and charities local to airport bases.

The money is raised by cabin crew asking customers to kindly donate any spare currency on their way home from holiday. In July alone, over £70,000 for charity was collected onboard Thomson flights, which demonstrates the continued generosity of our customers despite the tough economic conditions. This is the highest amount the airline has ever recorded in one month since it started monitoring onboard donations.

The Family Holiday Association, which receives 50% of all donations on Thomson flights, will receive £100,000 for their worthwhile cause.

Abigail Pugh, Fundraising Liaison Manager at the Family Holiday Association, said: “This is a fantastic achievement, we are so grateful to the Thomson cabin crew who have made such a superb effort. The money raised will help so many families who are in desperate need of a break-away.”

Carl Gissing, Director of Customer Services for Thomson Airways, commented: “We are a proud supporter of the Family Holiday Association and it is fantastic that our crew have been able to raise so much money for such a worthwhile cause. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers who have given generously over the last few months.”
