Aer Lingus offers staycationers a 24 hour lifeline
As Aer Lingus celebrates its 500,000th passenger since launching at Gatwick three months ago, its Corporate Affairs Director, Enda Corneille, has hit out at the ‘staycation’ phenomenon, warning Londoners of the ill-effects of ‘Holiday Deficit Disorder’ (HDD).In a bold statement, Corneille said, “This affliction (HDD) is no trivial matter for the millions of Londoners experiencing a ‘dullcation’ this summer. To suddenly ditch the sun, sea and sand for rain, rivers and rock will render the nation cold turkey.”
However, Aer Lingus thinks it has found a solution for those who have missed out on guaranteed summer sun. On 12 August Aer Lingus launches a 24 hour offer, dishing out 50,000 seats at £9.99 one-way inclusive of taxes and charges. The offer is available on all routes from Gatwick Airport* and valid from 1st October through to 28th February.
He continues: “The excitement factor of flying abroad and waving goodbye to the daily grind is lost with the ‘staycation’. Minus this high, we’ll see the onset of a disgruntled nation with little to look forward to apart from six months of darkness.”
Corneille concludes: “With the worries of recession combined with rain, it is important that the nation has at least one break to help recharge and refocus, otherwise we’ll be heading for a mental breakdown by the time the clocks go back.
“By offering flights for £9.99 makes overseas travel easily affordable but, most importantly, gives the nation something to look forward to.”
