Ice cool eco-concert comes to Reykjavík Two of Iceland’s biggest music stars, Bjork and Sigur Rós, are to play together at a free, outdoor concert in Reykjavík on 28 June 2008. The concert will be held to raise awareness of environmental issues in Iceland. Iceland Express, Iceland’s low-fare airline, is celebrating the event by offering British music lovers lower priced fares on flights between the UK and Iceland in the days leading up to and following the concert.

Flights to Reykjavik are available from £69 per person, one-way including taxes and charges but customers should act soon as seats are limited.

The location of the concert is Laugardalur (Hot Springs Valley), a centre for recreation in the capital. Other music acts will join the line-up and there are rumours that a high profile British band will travel to Iceland to perform at the concert.

The purpose of the music event is to heighten public awareness of environmental issues in Iceland. Bjork says; “Too often, battles being fought for nature turn into something negative and into mudslinging. We will not go that way, we are not saying that this and that is forbidden, we are rather asking ‘what about all these other possibilities?’"

Iceland Express currently flies daily to Keflavik airport in Reykjavik and back from London Stansted. The reduced fares are available on departures between 25 June and 2 July 2008 and can be booked immediately via icelandexpress.com.

Flights depart London Stansted for Keflavik on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays twice per day and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays once per day.
