Iceland Express announces Gatwick launch date

Iceland Express is launching a new Gatwick service on 1 May 2009. The national low-cost carrier will operate an eight-times-per-week service between London Gatwick and Reykjavik, with flights starting from £69.00 one-way including taxes.

“We have decided to launch this exciting new service in May as it is the peak travel season for Iceland,” says Matthias Imsland, Iceland Express CEO. “The number of bookings for Iceland Express is higher than ever before and we are confident this will continue with our Gatwick route. We are looking forward to this new chapter in our story.”

The new Gatwick route will replace the existing Stansted service, which will finish its daily service on 30 April 2009.

Iceland Express is Iceland's low-fare airline connecting the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík with 14 airports in Europe including Copenhagen, London, Alicante, Basel, Berlin, Billund, Eindhoven, Frankfurt Hahn, Friedrichshafen, Gothenborg, Paris, Stockholm, Barcelona and Warsaw. The airline, which launched in 2003, offers a daily service between London Stansted and Reykjavik. A new service between London Gatwick and Reykjavik will be launched from spring 2009.

Iceland Express has no length-of-stay restrictions, no Sunday rule, easy online booking and offers a 50% discount for children under 12 years of age. The airline won Best Website Award at the 2007 World Low Cost Airline Awards.
