7th July 2009 Print
Iceland is set to see a flurry of carnival, colour and celebration this August as Gay Pride hits the streets of Reykjavik. The capital city’s population is set to rise by almost 40 per cent as it plays host to the biggest gay and lesbian event of the year from 6 – 9 August 2009.

What’s more, revellers can fly to Reykjavik from just £69.00 one way, including taxes, with Iceland Express, Iceland’s low-fare airline.

Reykjavik Gay Pride will include a variety of events, parades, parties and concerts that take place at numerous venues and locations throughout the city.

Celebrations will begin during the afternoon of Thursday 6 August, with the official Pride Opening Ceremony occurring that evening.

Iceland Express operates a daily service between London Gatwick and Reykjavik.

The airline offers a 50 per cent discount for children under the age of 12 years, a healthy in-flight menu and onboard entertainment.
