Exhibition showcases Sri Lanka’s sparkling gems

The Island of Gems Exhibition featuring a selection of gems and jewellery from Sri Lanka takes place on October 24-25, 2009 from 10am to 7pm at the Mostyn Hotel, Marblel Arch, Bryanston Square, London, nearest tube Marble Arch.

Visitors will be able to take along their own jewellery for a free valuation and will be entered into a free prize draw for a blue sapphire worth around £100 or a piece of jewellery to the same value.

Entrance for adults is £6 and includes a complimentary souvenir brochure and a sample gemstone or four-semi precious stones to the value of £15. There’s an opportunity to watch live gem cutting demonstrations and polishing.

The exhibition is now in its 14th year and is organised by author and leading Sri Lankan gem expert, D. H. Ariyaratna FGA, DGA, FGS. Sri Lanka Tourism is supporting this event which demonstrates another aspect of the islands diversity.
