England’s women are among more than 70 top football teams hoping a winter break at La Manga Club will kick-start 2010 for them.

Ahead of their remaining World Cup qualifiers, a 33-player squad will arrive at the resort on January 11 and their stay will coincide with visits from their Norwegian counterparts and Steve McLaren’s undefeated Dutch table-toppers FC Twente.

The break also crosses over with that of Belgian league-leaders Anderlecht, who are currently enjoying a training camp at La Manga Club, alongside the German under-19 and under-17 sides.

This is just the beginning of a busy three months for the resort which will see more than 70 professional and international football sides take advantage of its tremendous facilities by the end of March.

La Manga Club will be hosting international tournaments for under-19 and under-17 levels as well as women’s under-23 and under-19s.

Two versions of the popular La Manga Cup competition will also be held during this period with teams from across Europe taking part, in addition to the American side, Seattle Sounders.

The resort boasts the best facilities in southern Europe for professional sports teams, with eight international-standard grass pitches and a host of other amenities including three 18-hole championship golf courses, a luxury spa and the five-star Hotel La Manga Club Principe Felipe.

An increasing number of high-profile British clubs have chosen La Manga Club in the last year, including Celtic, Liverpool, Wolves, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United.
