The UK’s largest independent pharmaceutical manufacturer, Thornton and Ross, has taken delivery of a new Euro 5 Renault Premium 270.18 rigid, with a high roof sleeper cab. In an important conquest deal for Renault Trucks and Renault Trucks’ distributor, JDS Trucks, it is the first Renault to join the company’s fleet.

The vehicles will be used to distribute pharmaceutical products across the country to the high street, wholesalers and supermarkets. Rob Henderson, Distribution Manager, Thornton and Ross, says: “We trialled a number of marques and the Renault Premium was our preferred choice, providing excellent value for our budget. The cab was spacious and comfortable which is important for the driver, as the vehicle is often used overnight.

The truck also meets our requirements and legislation concerning environmental issues. Whilst we are a multi-million pound growing industry, we are dedicated to making our operation as efficient as possible to allow us to stay competitive whilst reducing waste and our environmental impact.”

Founded in 1922, Thornton and Ross is a family owned business with its base in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Customers range from private independent chemists to multiple groups and multinational grocery retailers. Thornton and Ross also has a thriving export business. Over 350 staff are employed at the company’s Linthwaite site.
