Re-live the Battle of Waterloo

31st March 2010 Print

Make an appointment with history - re-live the Battle of Waterloo in Belgium this June – when more than 3,000 troops, over 50 pieces of artillery and 150 cavalrymen will be re-enacting one of the biggest battles in European history – courtesy of coach tour operator, Phoenix Holidays.

The company is highlighting two-night breaks to this annual event, starting on 18 June, which include grandstand seats to the ‘Re-enactment of the Battle’ where volunteer regiments in full period costume – and complete with weapons – will depict the encounter between the French Army, led by Napoleon Bonaparte, and the Duke of Wellington, leader of the Anglo-Allied forces.

Further highlights of the package include an excursion to the Lions Mount Monument, overlooking the Waterloo Battlefield, for a one-hour firework and light display, along with a trip to the Napoleonic village of bivouacs where visitors can observe daily life in the camps and check out weaponry and equipment.

The twin share price of £199 per person includes return coach travel from a choice of pick-up points in England Wales, accommodation with breakfast at the three-star Mercure Brussels Evere, entrance into the above events and services of a Phoenix Holidays’ tour manager in resort.
