AA targets more roadside repairs

Fewer motorists will face the ignominy of having their car towed away after a breakdown, thanks to a new service supplied to the AA’s Roadside Patrols by Autodata, the motor industry’s leading provider of technical information.

AA patrols will now have immediate access to detailed, manufacturer-specified diagnostic data traditionally used within the professional workshop environment.

With such accurate data supplied by the maidenhead-based firm at their fingertips, from tyre pressures and service adjustments to engine management systems and battery replacement procedures, the AA hopes it can increase the number of repairs completed at the roadside.

Tony Swiatek, managing director of Autodata, said: “When faced with a breakdown, the AA patrol will have all the information he’s ever likely to need, just like all the independent and franchised dealerships we supply.”

The AA’s Head of Motoring Technologies, Chris Bailey, added: “The feedback and performance from our Roadside Patrols using the latest information from Autodata has been extremely positive.

“The range of technical information now available to them, presented in a consistent style across the various cars they have to work on, helps them to quickly diagnose faults and improve repairs, helping our members to quickly continue their journeys.”
