Glenton Holidays predicts record winter bookings

2nd July 2010 Print

Coach tours specialist Glenton Holidays is predicting another winter of record sales as more mature travellers book holidays for the festive period.

The award-winning operator has added more than 20 new tours and fresh holiday concepts to its newly released Autumn & Festive brochure to cater for the growing demand for wintertime holidays.

Glenton Holidays took away record numbers over the 2009-2010 winter season and early bookings for the forthcoming winter suggest another record for 2010-2011.

Commercial Director Steve Turbill said: “We are enjoying a barbecue summer at the moment but many of our customers are already planning their autumn and winter breaks.

“Plenty of mature holidaymakers like to book five or six months in advance for winter, so we urge customers to consider their plans now, otherwise the options they want may be sold out.

“More and more customers are keen to book festive holidays as it means they can celebrate in the company of like-minded folk without worrying about cooking, washing up or driving!

“Thanks to our buying power and added extras, our holidays offer unrivalled value for money so customers don’t worry about the cost either.”

The Autumn & Festive brochure features autumn escapes, Turkey & Tinsel breaks, Christmas holidays and Hogmanay getaways across the UK and Europe.

Many of the holidays feature visits to pantomimes, as well as excursions, entertainment and other extras.

There is a range of tours to visit UK and continental Christmas markets, along with festive escapes between Christmas and Hogmanay.

Highlights among the new festive tours are the Austrian Tyrol Hogmanay Adventure (10 days, £649) and the Grand Festive Tourer two-centre holiday over Christmas and New Year (11 days, £599).

Among the new offerings is a day trip to see Robin Hood at the Pavilion Theatre in Glasgow, with comedian Jim Davidson and TV style gurus Colin and Justin (£35).

Other new theatre breaks include trips to see Coronation Street Live! in Manchester (three days, £129) and Dick Whittington pantomime with Joan Collins and Julian Clary in Birmingham (five days, £319).

The tours are also ideal for solo holidaymakers who want to celebrate the festive season with fellow travellers: there are no single supplements on the UK mainland coach tours, and there is a selection of ‘Good Companions’ tours dedicated to solo travellers.
