Reykjavik will play host to a frenzied festival celebrating fun and freedom at Gay Pride this August.

The bustling capital city will once again welcome the biggest gay and lesbian event of the year from 5 – 8 August 2010, with the population set to rise by almost 40 per cent during this weekend.

For those wanting to join in the festivities, they can fly to Reykjavik with Iceland’s low-fare airline, Iceland Express, for as little as £89 one way, including taxes.

Attended by more than 70,000 people, the Reykjavik Gay Pride consists of a huge colourful parade through the centre of the town, followed by a grand outdoor concert.

Celebrations will begin during the afternoon of Thursday 5 August, with the official Pride Opening Ceremony occurring that evening.

Iceland Express operates a daily service between Reykjavik and London Gatwick and a twice weekly service to London Stansted.
