Tracker recovers £45,000 Ducati Desmosedici RR

16th July 2010 Print

A brand new Ducati Desmosedici RR worth £45,000 was stolen off the driveway of a house in Alderley Edge, Cheshire. However, the audacious thieves were foiled within hours of the theft being reported, as the motorbike was fitted with a TRACKER stolen vehicle recovery system.  The bike was recovered on the Middlesex Road, Greater Manchester, where a man was arrested in connection to the theft.

Adrian Davenport, TRACKER's Police Relationships Manager, says: “We suspect that the motorbike was loaded into a waiting van to ensure a quick getaway. Many stolen motorbikes will be broken down into parts within hours and sold on for a quick profit. Last year alone TRACKER recovered over £500,000 pounds worth of stolen motorcycles and scooters. TRACKER works alongside the Police and other partners, including the Motorcycle Crime Reduction Group, to combat this type of crime”.

Chris Booth from Ducati Dealer - Just Harley, says: “Reputation and good customer care are the most important elements when selling a motorbike. Our customers make huge decisions in selecting and buying a bike, therefore providing the right advice and offering a solution that is appropriate to each individual’s customer need is crucial.  Security should never be overlooked. We recommend TRACKER, as it is the best stolen bike recovery system on the market, and in this case, it certainly proved a wise investment for our customer.”

Kevin Howells, Chairman of the Motorcycle Crime Reduction Group said, "Motorcycle theft is a low profile problem across the UK but, unfortunately, it's a problem that is steadily rising with almost 26,000 machines stolen in 2009 alone. As a Group, we highly recommend that motorcycle owners take all of the security measures they can, by using approved locks, chains, marking systems and immobilisers, through to approved tracking systems which can be a very effective part of a riders integrated package of motorcycle security measures.”

TRACKER stolen motorcycle recovery systems work like an electronic homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden in one of several places around the motorcycle. TRACKER offers the ultimate in protection as it detects when the bike is being moved without the ignition being turned on. The tracking device works even if the motorcycle is hidden in a container or transported on back of a van. TRACKER is the only vehicle tracking system operated by all 52 police forces in the UK, offering bike owners the ultimate in security.
