Modern art in Copenhagen

This September why not take a long weekend in Copenhagen, a time when galleries, museums and exhibition halls open up their doors to show the high quality and great variety of Copenhagen's modern art scene today.

During this weekend (2 – 5 September), now in its third year as an annual event, some 50 leading galleries, museums and exhibition spaces will offer a packed programme of gallery viewings, receptions, guided tours, artist talks and debating events.

Contemporary Danish art is very up-and-coming on the international art scene and many works can these days be found in galleries all over the world. During the Kopenhagen Contemporary weekend, there will be special focus on performances and the art as it is today, with a number of events, at a broad spectrum of venues, bringing you closer to the Danish contemporary art scene and to a number of young Danish artists.

The weekend's offers include debates and talks where directors and curators from the largest institutions will explain how they create their exhibitions today, including at the Carlsberg Galleries, where you will see completely new live and social works and a guided tour will keep you up to date with this gallery’s exhibitions.

The organisers and participants include both established names, newly-opened galleries and exhibition rooms, including: Galleri Christina Wilson, Galleri Susanne Ottesen, IMO, Galleri Mikael Andersen, Nils Stærk, the National Gallery of Denmark, Louisiana and Arken.

The full programme for Kopenhagen Contemporary will be available in August. Read more at: kopenhagencontemporary.com
