Toshiba have expanded its Blu-ray player portfolio with the introduction of the BDX3100KE, a product that support Blu-ray 3D disks. As an integral part of the ultimate home theatre set up, it perfectly complements Toshiba’s also newly unveiled 3D-TV sets in the WL768 series. The BDX3100KE will be available at retail outlets in Europe in the fourth quarter 2010.

With the new BDX3100KE Toshiba reinforces its commitment to strongly establish in the ever-increasing 3D home entertainment market, and now offers a broad range of 3D capable devices which ranges from 3D-TV sets, 3D capable laptops to 3D Blu-ray players. Toshiba’s full 3D line-up enables viewers to immerse themselves in 3D movie worlds by combining different 3D capable devices to best suit their needs.

Home cinema experience, complete with that Hollywood feeling

The glossy black BDX3100KE Blu-ray player provides Full HD 1080p digital output to create an outstanding home cinema experience. Films on Blu-ray disc are played at 24 frames per second, thus preserving their original atmosphere and quality, and providing an unparalleled fluid rendering of movement. A 3D capable HDMI® port allows trouble-free streaming of 3D content from Blu-ray 3D discs to a 3D capable TV set. Last but not least, the player features REGZA-LINK (HDMI-CEC). Connected to a TV set via HDMI® both devices can be operated with a single remote control.

Vibrant sound that provides a true-to-life movie experience

True-to-life pictures in 3D and in 2D, should be accompanied by an equally impressive immersive sound-experience. So, to provide that real ‘cinema feeling’, the BDX3100KE features Dolby® TrueHD and DTS®-HD Master Audio | EssentialTM, which reproduce tonal details on up to 7.1 channels, for uncompressed, quality surround sound.

“Yes it can…” - wide variety of formats supported

Toshiba’s Blu-ray player supports a wide selection of formats. This includes image and audio files in MKV, DivX, HD-JPEG and MP3 formats, and data can also be read from a USB stick which fits neatly in the USB port on the front of the BDX3100KE. To complement its broad range of possible applications, the player is even capable of translating AVCHD-compressed footage from camcorders into brilliant home movies.

Make the most of Blu-ray: access to a range of ‘bonus material’

Thanks to BD LiveTM (Profile 2.0), users can take advantage of bonus material on Blu-ray discs – including exclusive downloads, additional ‘making-of’s, chats or games.

Important notes:

This product is designed to playback Blu-ray discs that comply with the 3D specifications of the Blu-ray Disc Association. It is not compatible with other 3D specifications.  3D capable display, 3D eyewear and High Speed HDMI cable (all sold separately) required for playback and viewing 3D content.

This product does not play HD DVDs. For HD playback, Blu-ray discs with HD content are required. To play high-definition content, an HDCP-ready DVI or HDMI interface on your TV may be necessary. The performance of interactive and/or network features can vary depending on disc design and content, and may require a constant broadband internet connection. A firmware update may be necessary as well for some interactive and/or network features. Some features may require additional bandwidth.

When using BD-Live, certain content and services may require a USB stick with at least 1GB storage capacity to be inserted in the player’s USB port. BD-Live content and services are provided by third-party suppliers and may be subject to change without notice. Toshiba makes no warranties, statements or assurances with regard to the content, availability or functionality of third-party content or services.

MKV (Matroska Video Container) is an open standard free container format, a file format that can hold an unlimited number of video, audio and subtitle tracks inside a single file. This product is able to support only a fraction of all video, audio and subtitles formats which could be used to create a MKV file. Please refer to the owner’s manual for the list of formats supported.

As Blu-ray is a format that uses new technologies and a specific type of data storage medium, problems with the digital connection, compatibility and/or performance are possible. Some features will become available with some delay. A 1080p-ready TV is required to play back 1080p content. The Deep Color feature as specified by HDMI 1.3a requires a compatible Deep-Color-capable HD display and/or device.

The use of REGZA-LINK, a feature based on HDMI-CEC, requires an HDMI-CEC-compatible TV set. Depending on the specifications of your TV set, some or all of the REGZA-LINK functions may not work – even if your TV is HDMI-CEC-compatible.
