Robert Downey Jnr tests Impreza to destruction in Due Date

If you were in a race against time to get home for the birth of your child, what car would you chose to do it in?  Well, in forthcoming comedy flick, Due Date, box-office legend Robert Downey Jnr’s character opts for a Subaru Impreza, and the car is put through its paces in a dash across the United States.

The comedy, directed by Todd Phillips, follows highly strung, father-to-be Peter Highman (Downey Jnr), as he tries to make his way home in time for his wife’s due date.  Highmanis forced to start a road trip with bothersome aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay (Zach Galifianakis – the Hangover), and the unlikely duo take to their hilarious, incident filled road trip in a Paprika Red Pearl Impreza hatchback.

The All-Wheel-Drive hatchback copes admirably with all that the duo can throw at it before its role in the movie ends dramatically, when, with the troublesome Tremblay at the wheel, it is inadvertently launched from a motorway flyover and lands on its roof on the road below (a seriously stern crash test for any car).

Due Date (duedatemovie.warnerbros.com), which is a Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures production, hits UK cinemas on Friday 5 November and also co-stars Oscar winner, Jamie Foxx, and Michelle Monaghan.

The Subaru Impreza range starts at £16,995 for the 1.5-litre RC.
