DVLA’s X-factor for Ferrari lovers

29th November 2010 Print

It may be over 20 years old, but Ferrari’s iconic F40 supercar still has the X and wow factors – and DVLA Personalised Registrations is auctioning a pair of plates to illustrate just that!

The rather perfectly apt F40 WOW and F40 XXX will go under the hammer during the agency’s sixth, and final, three-day auction of 2010 commencing on Wednesday, December 1, at Ardencote Manor Hotel, Claverdon, in Warwickshire.

And while prices for the 200mph machine may still exceed £350,000, F40 WOW and F40 XXX have been given reserves of a more modest £300 and £900 respectively. Additionally, the DVLA has also included GTO 599F in the sale, perfect for the £300,000 current supercar.

Jody Davies, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Events Manager, said: “Anything linked to a classic Ferrari creates a huge stir, the F40 is arguably one of the most iconic supercars in the world so we are hoping for some great interest in both plates.”

The “star” plate of the Ardencote auction will undoubtedly be 11 O which boasts a reserve of £10,000. It is the latest in the O-series steadily released by DVLA Personalised Registrations since January 2009. To date, the sale of 15 registrations within the series has amassed a staggering £1.2 million.
