Dive the tropical waters of the Arabian Sea with Oman's newest Dive Academy, Omanta Scuba.

Omanta Scuba's Diving base faces 1,700km of pristine coastline close to coral banks and spectacular protected underwater life like the marine park Daymaniyat Islands. Located at the prestigious InterContinental Muscat Hotel boathouse - Omanta is the latest venture of Mohamed Al Riyami, who pioneered sea tourism in Oman.

“There's an abundance of sea life here, and it's on the migratory path of the elusive whale shark” he enthused. “I've been diving all over the world, but Oman beats them all for stunning soft corals so brightly coloured.” says his Canadian business partner, Stanley Berlin who left Asia to set up in Oman.

Divers can spot dolphin pods - often in their hundreds - en route to the dive spots, a favourite spots of marine experts like Jean Michel Cousteau. “The water temperature is ideal, around 28 degrees on the surface” adds Stanley.

Omanta Scuba recently took part in a Reef Clean Up Day, where Stanley freed an alarmed puffer fish which had been caught up in a net. “Clients can volunteer on Omanta's Global PADI clean up days and have a free days diving, check our website for the dates (omantascuba.com)” says Stanley.

Omanta Scuba caters for non divers also: Book a dolphin watch tour, a boat or dhow cruise. Take out a kayak, spot birdlife from the beach or simply relax outside in lush gardens beside the hotel's two large swimming pools.

The Boathouse has a tropical setting; palm fringed relaxation area, state of the art classroom, Scuba Shop (with the latest underwater brands to equip everyone from novice to a pro), a pentanque pitch and playground. Childcare Centre is also on hand for clients who want to dive worry free.
