Reclaimed Appliances chooses Renault for hookloader
Electrical and Electronic re-use and recycling company, Reclaimed Appliances Ltd., has taken delivery of a new Euro 5 Renault Premium 380.26, 6x2 drawbar. Supplied through Renault Trucks distributor, Thompson Commercials, it is the first Renault to join the company’s 10-strong fleet. The Renault Premium chassis has been fitted with the first hookloader/container body carrier and trailer in the UK. The specialist equipment has been installed by MEC (UK) Ltd.
The vehicle will be used to collect recycled electronic items from various council sites across Essex, Norfolk and into London and will then deliver to processing points in these areas. The multipurpose body has been designed to lift 20ft ISO containers (TEU), as well as standard hooklift bins. The drawbar enables the easy transfer of bins and containers from the truck to the trailer.
Robert Truscott, Chairman, Reclaimed Appliances, says: “The Renault Premium is well suited to our application. Its low height means that the truck can easily access delivery sites, many of which have low height limits. It also has a light chassis weight, which increases our payload allowance and so enables us to keep our collection and delivery service cost efficient. We also feel that the Renault Premium is a great value product and the service that we have received from the Renault Trucks dealership has been excellent.”
Reclaimed Appliances is based in Boston, Lincolnshire and has been established for 10 years. The company specialises in the removal of all computer and electrical equipment, as well as batteries, fluorescent tubes/bulbs and refrigerators/freezers for the purposes of re-use or recycling. The company has a dedicated fleet of vehicles that operates nationwide, collecting from small businesses, blue chip corporate companies, local/education authorities and recognised recycling centres. Reclaimed Appliances operates a fully licensed waste transfer station, specially certified to deal with hazardous waste.
