Sleep under the stars in France

Leading outdoor living operator Canvas Holidays launches 'Carré d'Etoiles' in rural France for 2011 - accommodation that offers guests the chance to sleep under the stars, with all the comfort of being indoors.

If the partial solar eclipse has sparked inspiration, budding star-gazers can catch a glimpse of the 'Big Dipper' or 'Orion's Belt' in the new star-gazing cabins with the unique roof top porthole providing a window to the sky. Would-be astronomers can get an even closer look with the sky observation kit which includes a telescope and stellar chart to give a better understanding of the night-sky.

The bijou cabins sleep up to two adults and two children and offer the absolute antithesis to hectic city life, perfect for both couples and families. Guests can enjoy the living area fully equipped with a kitchen and a flat screen TV and DVD player, or ascend the ladder to the upstairs sleeping area with shower room and double bed complete with rooftop porthole making it possible to enjoy a night beneath the stars.

The 'Carré d'Etoiles' have been developed with the greatest attention to the environment. Boasting an innovative architectural design, the cube-like structure makes very little impact on the rural landscape.

With little to no light pollution, the star-gazing cabins are located on two Roulottes de Campagne sites in rural France; Les Roulottes du Domaine de Dienne, Vienne (The Loire Valley) and Les Roulottes des Monédières, Corrèze (The Dordogne).

Canvas Holidays offers seven nights at Les Roulottes du Domaine de Dienne, Vienne (The Loire Valley) and Les Roulottes des Monédières, Corrèze (The Dordogne), France throughout the season, costs from £615 per family with accommodation for two adults and two children in a 'Carré d'Etoiles'. Price includes a return crossing from Dover to Calais for a car and passengers.
