Tourism Queensland has been quick to let holidaymakers know the Sunshine State is open for business following Cyclone Yasi.

To encourage visitors to return to Australia's tropical North, Qantas Holidays has released some special Queensland packages:

• 3 nights for the price of 2 at Castaways Resort & Spa, Mission Beach, from £139
• 4 nights for the price of 3 at Sea Temple Resort & Spa, Port Douglas, from £245
• 3 nights at Heron Island, from £409 full board

The World Heritage Great Barrier Reef and most of the accompanying Whitsunday Islands are 'back to normal' following the storm. Flights have resumed, ferry services are fully operational and the main Bruce Highway and other major local roads are open. What's more, there are some great deals to be had for anyone planning on travelling soon.

3 nights for the price of 2 at Castaways Resort & Spa, Mission Beach, from £139 - Mission Beach was directly in the path of the cyclone but the four-star Castaways Resort & Spa sustained only superficial damage. Bound by the Great Barrier Reef and the World Heritage listed Wet Tropics Rainforest, Castaways Resort & Spa has a beach directly in front of the resort and a secluded rainforest swimming area and walking trails just 6km away. Book three nights from £139 per person, including one night free.

4 nights for the price of 3 at Sea Temple Resort & Spa, Port Douglas, from £245 - The three most popular destinations of Tropical North Queensland - Cairns, Port Douglas and Palm Cove - all escaped the cyclone. Nestled between Tropical North Queensland's rainforest-covered mountains and the Coral Sea, Sea Temple Resort & Spa provides easy access to world-renowned natural attractions, such as the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, and the cosmopolitan dining, shopping and entertainment facilities of Port Douglas's trendy Macrossan Street. Book four nights at the five-star Sea Temple Resort & Spa from £245 per person, including one night free.

3 nights at Heron Island, from £409 full board - While the bulk of Queensland escaped the feared destruction from the cyclone, Dunk and Bedarra islands were not so fortunate. Both suffered extensive damage and have confirmed that they will not be open again until 31 August 2011 at the earliest. Visitors can instead head to nearby Lizard Island and Heron Island, which are doing their best to accommodate anyone whose holiday plans have been affected.

The four-star Heron Island resort is a dream destination for nature lovers, a natural coral cay 89kms off the coast of Queensland, right on the Great Barrier Reef. Book three nights from £409 per person on a full board basis.

Packages are based on two adults sharing and are valid for travel from 16 April - 20 June 2011. Prices exclude international flights and local transfers.
