Holiday home from home in Whippingham

15th March 2011 Print

One look was all it took for Birmingham-based Paul Williams and Emma Tyson to fall in love with a brand new home at Barratt’s Hawthorn Meadows in Whippingham.

Paul (49) was holidaying on the Isle of Wight with wife Emma (43) in November last year and by chance happened to be driving close to the popular candy-coloured development.

“We love the Island and have spent many a happy holiday there,” said Paul. “Much of that time is taken staring into estate agent windows and dreaming of the perfect coastal holiday home. Then, in November, it suddenly dawned on us that house prices in East Cowes are very competitive against other areas of the island.”

The couple drove past Hawthorn Meadows and decided to take a closer look. And they were soon smitten by the development’s four bedroom Kingsville design. “It was just right for us,” said Paul. “This particular house offered beautiful views out across the river and in no time at all we were putting down a deposit and planning future holidays here.”

Priced from £232,995, the Kingsville is a four bedroom house featuring an attractive fitted kitchen, store room, handy downstairs cloakroom and a study that could also be used as a fourth bedroom. There is a spacious lounge and a family room – and the master bedroom includes an en suite facility. The remaining bedrooms have use of a good-sized, colour-coordinated family bathroom.

“We are counting down to a time when we can move here permanently,” said Paul. “At the moment our 17-year-old daughter is in the first year of her A-levels, so we can’t entertain the idea. But as soon as we can, we will move down to this wonderful development. The sales and site teams have been superb throughout.

“We live in Birmingham so we can’t always be there for deliveries. But the sales guys have our keys and are always on hand to accept, on our behalf, washing machines and whatever else arrives. We couldn’t ask for more.”

Hawthorn Meadows offers an attractive selection of one, two, three and four bedroom homes. And they have the added bonus of a rural position close to the mooring site on the eastern edge of Cowes.

“So many buyers are attracted to the delightful setting of this development,” said Barratt senior sales manager, Zak Long. “I am very pleased that Paul and Emma have found their dream holiday home at Hawthorn Meadows. And I wish them many happy holidays here.”

Also available at Hawthorn Meadows is the three bedroom Maidstone house, priced from £199,995; and the four bedroom Gloucester design, from £279,995.

Hawthorn Meadows enjoys a rural setting on the Isle of Wight and the village of Whippingham has strong links with royalty. It is only a five-minute walk to Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s summer home.

Nestling near the River Medina and a local mooring site on the eastern edge of Cowes, Hawthorn Meadows offers the perfect retreat for yachting enthusiasts. There is easy access to the rest of the island and to the mainland.
