Nonstop flights from Glasgow & Manchester to Iceland

17th March 2011 Print

Icelandair is pleased to announce new nonstop flights from Glasgow and Manchester to Iceland starting 20th September 2011.

These flights will replace the current Reykjavik - Manchester- Glasgow - Reykjavik "triangle route" and connect to Icelandair's North American destinations.

The Glasgow flights will operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. The Manchester flights will operate up to three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The result will be additional capacity from both Glasgow and Manchester, as well as quicker elapsed flying times to Icelandair's North American destinations. With the new flights, Icelandair will become the carrier with the fastest elapsed flying time from Glasgow to Boston, New York City (JFK), Orlando and Seattle. In addition, it will be the carrier with the fastest elapsed flying time from Manchester to Boston and Seattle.

Hjörvar Sæberg Högnason, General Manager UK & Ireland, said, "We are pleased to offer nonstop service from Glasgow and Manchester to Iceland. These are two important markets for us and these new flights will mean less travel time and more time in Iceland for our passengers. He added, "This action will also make us more competitive on routes to North America which are extremely popular in the autumn. Our hope is that these new flights are so successful that we will be able to increase to even more flights per week from both Glasgow and Manchester."

Icelandair is one of Iceland's longest established companies, connecting the world and Iceland for over 70 years. Icelandair flies from the UK to Iceland with connecting service to Boston, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Seattle, Washington, DC, Halifax and Toronto.
